Women's health represents the life cycle of women: from menstruation, through fertility or syndromes (a set of signs that appear at the same time) and diseases (specific known cause).
Although women live longer than men, their quality of life is lower, due to the unequal attention paid to both sexes by medical research. Every aspect of women’s health can be adressed with a better medical research (1) diseases specific to women, (2) pathologies more frequent in women , and (3) fertility / maternity.
As early as 2016, the emergence of women-specific care saw the light of day through the Clue app, with the aim of helping women through the medical journey from diagnosis and to personalized medicine or care.
The subject is increasingly being addressed as shown by the $106.7bn European funding plan for Femtech (2021-2027) or via the "Women's and Couples' Health” program to the tune of €25m over 5 years.
We believe this market is an exciting opportunity for VC investments in start-ups as it’s deep, untapped and a lot of use-cases to be addressed with AI, such as the detection of breast cancer, a better diagnosis for endometriosis or PCOS and even a better care during pregnancy and many other applications.
