The Oceantech refers to the range of technologies, innovations, and initiatives developed to use and/or preserve marine resources, as well as to address environmental, economic, and social challenges related to the oceans. The space is quite large and we’ve decided to focus our exploration on marine ecosystems understanding & preservation. We wish you a nice swim is this new booming market !

About our ocean…

The ocean is the second lung of our planet. It absorbs more than a quarter of carbon dioxide, but its regulatory capacity is being weakened by increasing CO2 emissions and global warming.

The ocean represents a frontier of knowledge for the scientific community, a coveted space for its current and potential uses and a subject of international negotiations in various arenas (High Seas Treaty, International Conventions on Climate and Biodiversity, etc). Today, more than 5% of global GDP (over $3 trillion) comes from blue economy industries.

This frenzied race to utilize the ocean and its resources makes us forget that living ecosystems reside in the oceans and contribute massively to the balance of our Earth. Ternel has chosen to address this challenge by studying the sector in depth from the perspective of marine biodiversity.

The momentum is ideal. France has invested 350 million euros (France 2030 Plan) for the exploration and understanding of the seabed. Moreover, United Nations Ocean Conference will take place in Nice (from 9 to 13 June, 2025), with the main theme of “accelerating action and mobilizing all stakeholders to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”.
